We've added a number of new options to the rules section of Scheduler to make them even more flexible and easier to manage.
Categories and artist restrictions
We've improved how you can limit rules to specific categories and artists. Rather than only being able to specify one - you can now cover multiple specific artists or categories with the same rule.
Plus, you can now choose whether to apply the rule only on your selected categories - or on all categories, except those specified. It's a lot more flexible, and you can now do more with fewer rules and better handle exemptions to your regular format.

And by popular demand - these options for category and artist limits are now available for the Daypart Rotation rule. It's perfect for excluding your specialist music categories from the same rotation requirements as the rest of your playlist.
Category-exclusive rule testing
We've also added options for how category-specific rules are tested. By default, audio being scheduled will be tested against all audio in your logs - regardless of which category it's come from. But now you can specify if it should only be tested against its own category, or any category covered by that rule. It's often known as "category exclusive mode" in other scheduling software, and it's a particular favorite for advanced users.
Breakable rules
There's also improvements to breakable rules, as we've refined our scoring system to ensure the item from a category that breaks the fewest rules is the one that gets scheduled. This should lead to a more varied rotation and better enforcement of your station sound.
Our music scheduler is available now for just $60/£40 per station, per month - and there's a no commitment, 14-day free trial available. Import your existing data and see how easy it is to use! You can find our more on the Scheduler section of our website, or watching our extended video tour.
